Alan Kropp & Associates (AKA) is an independent privately-owned geotechnical consulting firm located in the San Francisco Bay Area. From our downtown Berkeley offices, we provide a full range of geotechnical services to a broad spectrum of public- and private-sector clients.

AKA occupies a unique niche in the geo-consulting marketplace. Through strategic teaming alliances, we compete head-to-head with some of the largest geotechnical firms on public sector work, particularly on large building projects and in specialty areas involving geo-hazards. This proven approach provides our clients access to top-tier private consultants from industry and academia that are optimally matched to specific project needs.

AKA is located at a transportation hub easily accessed by BART, bus, bike, and car. We are located within the heart of downtown Berkeley at the edge of the Theatre and Arts District and one block from the University of California Berkeley campus. We take great pride in our Berkeley heritage, which celebrates cultural diversity and intellectual rigor. In addition to our 9th floor executive offices, our downtown Berkeley facilities include extensive archives of geotechnical, geologic, and historic data, and an in-house geotechnical testing laboratory.
